Trade unions and professionals gathered to defeat anti-workers agenda


The Workers’ Struggle Centre together with 20 trade unions and professional associations organized a protest march on 28th March at Colombo demanding the government to reverse anti- workers agenda.

Low salaries, unsecured working conditions, instability of jobs, oppressive laws, lack of social security and pension are few of the main issues facing by the working class. The the joint movement is in the process of  carry on collective measures to bring solutions for the issues of the working class based on the following slogans;


  • Increase the wages of state workers by Rs. 10000
  • Increase minimum wage of private sector up to Rs. 25000
  • Pay Rs. 1000 day wage for estate workers and permanent        monthly salary
  • Absorb
  • manpower and contract workers to permanent cadre
  • Pay Rs. 1500 minimum daily wage for manpower and              contract workers
  • Defeat Counter Terrorism Act
  • Stop selling public assets to multinational companies
  • Protect pension rights
  • Don’t touch EPF-ETF
  • Fight together and annihilate grade, trade union and                professional differences
  • Abolish Singapore agreement
  • Protect foreign employees’ rights
