FLSP handed over a letter to Office of Missing Persons on 7th February 2010 seeking a clarification on the statement made by the President about the disappearances in Sri Lanka. The President stated that there are no missing people wheres they all died during the war period. He further stated that the government planning to issue death certificated to all the missing people.

Thousands of Tamil and Sinhala youth were missing during the last stages of war including human rights activist, political activist and LTTE cadres who surrendered the government forces. The victimized family members and political movements have been demanding the justice for these missing people by at least exposing the truth behind these disappearances. The family members of victims have a right to know whereabouts of these missing people and who are responsible for those abductions.

President Gotabhya Rajapaksha was the Defence Secretary of the country during the last war period and he was one of the main responsible government officials for these disappearances. The Jaffna Magistrate Court has summoned him to testify in a habeas corpus case as the evidence were transpired that he was aware about some disappearances. Now the same person made statements that no further justice is needed for victims. FLSP insists government to dispense justice for all the victims of disappearances.
